Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 September 2026

This page describes how the Kav2D website at kav2d.app behaves, based on the code that ships with the app. It is not a generic privacy template.

Summary

You can draw without creating an account. Drawings are stored in this browser unless you download them or export a file. The public site loads Google Analytics, Google AdSense and Google Fonts. There is no Kav2D sign-in, Firebase, Google Drive sync or contact form in the app.

Information we do not collect as a Kav2D account

  • No Kav2D user account, email address or password.
  • No in-app cloud document store operated by Kav2D.
  • No Google Drive picker or Firebase Authentication / Firestore / Storage integration.
  • No built-in contact form that submits drawings or personal details to Kav2D servers.

Information stored in your browser

Kav2D writes to localStorage on this device so the editor can restore work and preferences:

  • kav2d.autosave.v1 — a copy of the current project, including a dirty flag, so a refresh can restore the last drawing.
  • kav2d.recent.v1 — recent document names for the editor UI.
  • kav2d.theme — Light theme or Dark theme (older installs may still have lasersketch.theme).
  • kav2d.symbols.favorites.v1 and kav2d.symbols.recent.v1 — Illustrations panel favourites and recent symbols.

Clearing site data for kav2d.app removes these keys. Downloaded project files, SVG and DXF exports live wherever you save them on your computer; Kav2D does not receive those files unless you choose to upload them somewhere else.

Analytics

The site loads Google Analytics (gtag.js) with measurement ID G-FH0RMZDBM5. Google may collect standard usage data such as page views, approximate location derived from IP, device and browser information, and identifiers that Google associates with the visit. Kav2D uses this to understand which pages are opened, not to build a drawing archive.

Advertising

The site includes Google AdSense (ca-pub-5852407650933658). In the editor, a reserved advertisement unit appears in the right column (slot 2311215947). Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads. Use Google’s ads settings or your browser controls if you want to limit this.

Cookies and similar technologies

Kav2D itself prefers localStorage for editor state. Google Analytics, AdSense and Google Fonts may set cookies or use other storage when their scripts run. The exact cookies can change when Google updates those products.

Fonts, hosting and other third parties

  • Google Fonts is requested from fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com so interface and text tools can use those typefaces.
  • Pages and static files are served from kav2d.app. The hosting provider will see ordinary web-server logs (IP address, URL, user agent) as any website does. This policy does not claim a specific host brand beyond that public site.
  • The Contact page publishes the address kav2d.app@gmail.com. Mail you send there is received at that mailbox.
  • Ko-fi links go to ko-fi.com/kav2d. Ko-fi’s own terms and privacy policy apply if you visit or pay there.
  • OpenMoji and other outbound documentation links are ordinary web links; those sites are not controlled by Kav2D.

Why this data is processed

  • Local storage: keep your drawing and theme when you reload the editor.
  • Analytics: see which public pages are used.
  • Ads: display the AdSense unit that funds keeping the editor free.
  • Fonts and scripts: render the interface.

Cloud copies of drawings

Kav2D does not upload your document to a Kav2D cloud folder. If you export a file and then store it in Dropbox, Drive or similar, that is your action on those services.

Retention and deletion

Browser keys last until you clear them or the browser expires them. Analytics and ads retention follows Google’s products. Email sent to the published contact address is retained by that mailbox, not by the Kav2D editor code. There is no in-app “delete my Kav2D account” control because there is no Kav2D account.

Security

Traffic to kav2d.app is delivered over HTTPS. Drawings in localStorage are as protected as anything else on that device and browser profile. Anyone with access to the profile can read the autosave. Do not treat a shared computer as a private vault; use Download project and take the file with you.

Your choices

  • Clear site data for kav2d.app to remove local drawings and preferences.
  • Use a browser that blocks third-party cookies or tracking, understanding ads and analytics may degrade.
  • Download or export your work if you want a copy outside the browser.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data held by Google or by the mailbox you write to. Use those organisations’ privacy tools for data they store. Kav2D does not operate a user database you can query inside the editor.

Children and classroom use

Kav2D is a general drawing tool. It is not directed at children as a social product, but educators do use browser tools in class. The live site still loads Google Analytics and AdSense, which are not designed as child-directed services. If you work with students, follow your school’s rules on websites, ads and data, and consider a network or browser configuration that matches those rules. We do not knowingly ask children for personal contact details in the editor because the editor has no account form.

Changes

If the app starts collecting new categories of data, this page should be updated and the “Last updated” date changed. Keep a copy of the policy if you need a historical snapshot.
